Ray Drummond (Nov. 23, 1946 – Nov. 1, 2025), bassist, educator, and veteran of innumerable bands and recordings, has died.

Among his many other achievements, Drummond was also a vital part of the Mingus orbit in the early 1990s, most notably as a member of Mingus Dynasty. He recorded with the group for their album The Next Generation (Columbia, 1991). Drummond was also a member of the Mingus Epitaph tour that same year.

Drummond had a deep connection to the musical and personal legacy of Mingus:
