The 2027 Charles Mingus Festival and High School Competition applications are live! Please share with all bright students and inspiring band directors you know!!!!
Even if not a competitive high school combo or big band, there are still ways to participate!
-Help us spread the word
-Students can get feedback from New York's best musicians and educators as a comments-only participant
-Students and band directors can get FREE Mingus Music lead sheets to start their journey
-All Participants are invited to come to New York Feb 12-15, 2027 to learn and perform with other students. Finalists compete on Sunday, will be considered for scholarships to New School, and Outstanding Soloists sit in with Mingus Big Band at The Pocket Jazz Club.
-All public are invited to the many festival events! More info to come!

Mingus Mondays are back, extending the festival weekend to FOUR DAYS!
International schools and students may apply!
A new “Comments-Only” alternative! Groups and solo musicians may receive Mingus Music and submit one composition for comment. They will not be considered for the competition but are encouraged to attend the weekend activities with other participants and finalists.
Self-directed options for students who may not have a group at their high school.
