14th Annual Charles Mingus Virtual Festival & High School Competition: Celebrating 100 Years of Mingus!

Produced by Let My Children Hear Music / The Charles Mingus Institute, in partnership with Dr. Keller Coker of The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School's College of Performing Arts, the Annual Charles Mingus Festival takes place on February 19th & 20th in NYC.

Now in it's 14th year, the Festival typically includes a film showcase, student jams, a full day of instrumental clinics exploring the music of Charles Mingus, performances, and the nationwide Competition showcasing young jazz talent from across the country. Outstanding Soloists have the opportunity to perform with the Grammy-winning Mingus Big Band.

Founded by Sue Mingus in 1986, Let My Children Hear Music / The Charles Mingus Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserve and promote the compositional legacy of Charles Mingus through publishing, education, archival preservation, and performance.

SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH JANUARY 31ST, FOR FEEDBACK AND PARTICIPATION IN A VIRTUAL FESTIVAL FEATURE AND ZOOM WORKSHOPS.

Due to rising COVID variant numbers in the city, and after much tribulation and careful assessment with our partners, it has become evident we are unable to hold live events in February 2022.
