SUNDAY feb 18 day mingus high school competition

FREE ADMISSION & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
On Sunday, schools will have rooms in the lower level to warm up and keep their things. Please keep your portable and most valuable belongings with you. We advise everyone to arrive a minimum of 90 minutes before the scheduled performance time. There will be escorts but here is the flow:
BACKSTAGE STUDENT CYCLE FLOW
When you arrive at Tishman, you’ll go to one of two big adjacent rooms in the Lower Level 1 (down staircase or elevator bank)
L104 (JALC, Hall, Jazz House, Rio)
L105 (Enloe, Newton, Rivers, BC Quintet)
Use these rooms for shared storage and solo warm up. There will be a monitor there but as always keep valuables with you.
Rooms 201 and 202 above audience also avail for: Storage, quiet hang (no music)
45 min prior to performance time move to WARM-UP in STARR FOUNDATION
30 min rehearsal in STARR
15 min prior prepare/bathroom/make your way up to 1st floor to ON DECK side stage in front of ROOM 100 (past elevators). You will be entering stage left from the REAR stage door.
STAGE TIME: Approx. 5 min set-up (20 min performance, 5 min break down
Band directors will self-intro during set up time.
EXIT via FRONT stage door or via audience exits (not rear stage door)
LUNCH: You can get deliveries and eat in cafeteria which will be open.

The Discount code for Sunday is MINGUSSUNDAY and will give you $20 tickets for each set. STUDENTS AND GUESTS SHOWING LANYARDS will be $20 Sunday night. Club has $20 minimum per person for food, drinks, desserts.
They are likely sold out (I asked them to stop sales since they were not able to accommodate their seating and meals) so if tickets are still sold or available at door IT WILL BE STANDING ROOM ONLY. Arrive early for best chance at seats. If they tell you to come back, have someone save your place in line. I’m trying to get them to open the house before 7 if they are ready to serve.
OUTSTANDING SOLOISTS NAMES WILL BE ON COMP LIST if they haven’t purchased with the group. Let us know which set they’re coming so we can schedule, and also let us know if you know you won’t be attending.
STEPS:
Outstanding soloists announced at Competition will check in with THEODORE ON STAGE if they are coming to DROM, they’ll say if they are coming to first set 7:30 or second set 9:30pm
At DROM, soloists should check in with THEODORE again, they will get their tune assignment and can see the set list. They will take a piece of paper with their name on it.
When they return for their tune (pay attention, be on deck, they won’t be called), they will hand the paper to Theodore to give to ERIC to announce.
Eric Mingus will be emceeing and he will introduce students before or after they play but he won’t be calling them to stage, they need to check in and be standing by well before their songs for a more seamless performance.
STORAGE: We won’t be able to leave anything at New School when we leave so please bring your things with you. We have access to limited storage at DROM as coat check. Instruments only, luggage might be difficult to accommodate so should be left in bus, hotel, or along the ATM wall in the lobby of DROM at your own risk. (We will have our staff in coat check, and someone working merch table in the lobby and there is security at the door.)

Any chaperones arriving separate from the bands should RSVP to one of the free New School events below Friday or Sat to make sure their name is on security list. NOT necessary for Sunday, Tishman building is open to public.
T-shirts will be available at DROM for $10. Any schools not attending DROM can give me an order in advance (number, sizes, black or white) and we’ll give them to you SAT or SUN. (We cannot sell at New School but we can give them to you there!)
